Live Theatre Gets a Home in Downtown Vernal

Braving new ground, a local woman’s dream is about to become a reality. Tonight the historic downtown Vernal Theatre will makes its debut as Vernal Theatre: LIVE, the new home for live plays, concerts and community events. Nashelle Pearson Jackson has a lifelong love of the theatre coming from a home where music and performance were primary forms of expression. With a degree in Theatre, some business experience, and her equally talented and involved husband Daniel by her side, Nashelle and her crew will welcome the community to the theatre for the first timetonight to let everyone in on the dream they are busy creating. “We want this to be a space where anyone can come and experience something new; whether that be something they can learn from or laugh at,” shares Nashelle. “We want this to be a place for everybody, a place where the community can come together.” To catch a glimpse of what Vernal Theatre: LIVE has in store, stop in for free entertainment and tours at the Open House tonight from 6:30 to 10pm and Saturday from 6 to 10pm, 44 East Main in Vernal.

Kristin never planned to work in news radio but has thoroughly enjoyed being part of the news team at KVEL. Her love of literature and writing developed in high school which led her to study English Literature and Technical Writing at BYU. She received her BA in English from BYU in 2005 and studied at UVU in Orem for 2 semesters to become a Certified Technical Writer in 2006. Two months after completion she began her dream job of being a stay-at-home mom.  As mother of 2 energetic kids, she began writing from home for the KVEL news team in 2011 and considers it the perfect fit as a full time mom and part time writer.
