Uintah High School Student and Athlete of the Week

The Uintah High School Student of the Week is Preston Smith, nominated by Mrs. McClellan. “Preston is an exemplary student who goes about his day quietly but respectfully,” shares Mrs. McClellan. “He helps me out in our class and remembers all the dance combinations to perfection. He also is a great dancer and very intelligent young man.” Congratulations Preston Smith, Uintah Student of the Week! The Ute Athlete of the Week is girls golf team member Rebecca Sanchez, nominated by Coach Kevin Ash. Becca ranked 2nd overall in Region 10 competition. “Becca has been our top golfer this year,” shares Coach Ash. “She helped lead us to our third straight region championship...She has a good attitude and works well with all of the girls on the team. Becca has a natural ability to play golf and works extremely hard to play at the top of her game.” Congratulations Rebecca Sanchez, Ute Athlete of the Week!

Kristin never planned to work in news radio but has thoroughly enjoyed being part of the news team at KVEL. Her love of literature and writing developed in high school which led her to study English Literature and Technical Writing at BYU. She received her BA in English from BYU in 2005 and studied at UVU in Orem for 2 semesters to become a Certified Technical Writer in 2006. Two months after completion she began her dream job of being a stay-at-home mom.  As mother of 2 energetic kids, she began writing from home for the KVEL news team in 2011 and considers it the perfect fit as a full time mom and part time writer.
