Jones Hole Fishery Staff Helps Wyoming Neighbors

The commitment of staff at Jones Hole National Fish Hatchery extends beyond the mission at their own location. Last week the crew traveled to the Saratoga National Fish Hatchery in Wyoming to help spawn Brown Trout and Lake Trout at the northern neighbor’s location. “The staff spawns the fish all throughout the month of October and once the eggs have eyed, [meaning] eye spots are visible in the egg, they are shipped to other hatcheries to be raised and stocked into their predetermined watersheds,” shares Jones Hole staff. “Saratoga National Fish Hatchery also raises and breeds a population of Wyoming Toads for the recovery program to help repopulate surrounding areas.” The Jones Hole staff was among other visiting fish hatchery staff to come and assist at the Wyoming location last week.
