Investigation Into Dinosaur Town Council Ongoing

Information is sparse concerning an investigation underway in Moffat County. Last week, the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney announced that the Dinosaur Town Council is under investigation.

Colorado.gov

lists Dinosaur Town Council members as Mayor L.D. “Smitty” Smith, Mayor Pro-Tem Jannice Karren, and Trustees Debi Bird, Darcie Rocque, David Heinrich, Chuck Winkler, and Davonna Wilczek. While there has been public speculation, there has been no official indication over what the investigation concerns. The Craig Press reports that Dinosaur residents have alleged there is financial mismanagement of tax money from the legalization of recreational marijuana and are also angry that the newest Dinosaur Town Marshal  was fired. That firing makes the second Town Marshal that Dinosaur has had in the last year. Dinosaur’s Mayor L.D. “Smitty” Smith told the Craig Press that the allegations about mismanagement of tax monies are not true.
