The Uintah Fire Suppression Special Service District is in the process of amending the agreement for fire services with the Vernal Regional Airport. The amendment was before the Vernal City Council on Wednesday that transfers responsibility of cost for fire suppression services at the airport to the Uintah Transportation Special Service District. According to City Manager Ken Bassett, the Uintah County Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond came to the City with this request as the fire district and transportation district continue to negotiate the language in the agreement. “The way it is written now it says the fire district would assume the responsibility,” explained Mr. Bassett to the Council. Vernal City Council approved the request to eliminate the previous article and amend the agreement to read that the transportation district will assume the responsibility.
