I-80 Wyoming Patrols Make Marijuana Seizures and Arrests

Wyoming Sheriff’s deputies are diligent to patrol I-80 knowing that the interstate is a popular route for drug traffickers and they don’t hesitate to pull over and arrest those breaking the law. Last Thursday, Sweetwater County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Florida man transporting over 30 pounds of marijuana. 24-year-old Michael Ramirez Torrens of Jacksonville Florida was traveling eastbound in a Toyota Camry, according to the Sheriff’s Office,  and was pulled over for following a semi tractor-trailer rig at a dangerously close distance. The Sheriff’s Office K9 unit that pulled Ramirez-Torrens over quickly uncovered the 30 pounds of marijuana in vacuum-sealed bags. He was taken in and charged but was released on Friday after posting a $20,000 dollar bond. The Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office has a policy of not identifying their K9 teams because of incidences nationally of officers and their dogs being threatened in drug cases.
