Those of us in the Uintah Basin know that there are several hidden gems of unique experiences throughout the area. One such hidden gem is the Uinta Highline Trail with its variety of landscapes. The striking character of the trail is its openness and expansive views—treeless terrain accounts for over half the distance of the trail. Though amazingly scenic, fewer than 50 people a year hike through the ridge-hugging track and the company Outmersive is working to change that. The company of experienced filmmakers have put together a documentary film in which five friends take the 10 day hike across the trail. They shot their experience in July 2018, started a kickstarter project in October 2018 (which raised $16,350 when it closed in December), and are aiming to release the finished film in August 2019. The film has a goal to convey 3 distinct dimensions: the history of the area, the modern experience of hiking 10 days, and the personal growth stories of the hikers.
