Months of work paid off for a group of Government students from Uintah High School that took Utah’s Capital by storm as they helped see HB 117 through the legislative process and signed into law this week. Governor Gary Herbert invited the students to be present during the ceremonial signing that took place in Roosevelt on Tuesday. HB 117 expands the type and breadth of publications that can print public notices. “This makes public notices more available to the citizens that continue to rely on print media, providing just another arena for those notices to be available,” explains bill sponsor Representative Scott Chew. It passed through the House and Senate with the students leading the way, testifying before House and Senate Committees on two occasions. The following students were part of this impressive effort: Kylie Larsen, Cameron Elder, Andrew Elder, Cassidy Bowen, Brayden McKee, Kellee Pantelakis, Alex Hatch, and Nathan Gehring.
