Governor Gary Herbert was among the opening speakers of the Uintah Basin Energy Summit that kicked off
Wednesday
at the Uintah Conference Center. In his remarks, Governor Herbert stated that energy resources in the Uintah Basin have as much potential as “anywhere in North America.” With that in mind, Governor Herbert spoke to the devastation of unemployment currently suffered with oil and gas downturn, pledging his support and Utah’s resources to help Basin residents get through this difficult time. The Governor then spent the remaining time of his address praising Basin residents for their resiliency as school enrollment shows that people are largely staying in the Basin to weather the storm together.
