Governor Gary Herbert made a personal visit to Roosevelt on Tuesday to present Roosevelt City with a special award designating Roosevelt as a “Business Friendly City”. Governor Herbert explained that Utah is leading the nation as an economic powerhouse and that a large part of that is the state’s responsibility to recognize the needs in communities beyond the Wasatch Front. “We’ve challenged all cities and counties to see what they can do to become more business friendly,” shared Governor Herbert, as he commended Roosevelt on their efforts to do just that. Mayor Vaun Ryan explained that the City took the state’s challenge seriously and over the past year have gone up and down Roosevelt’s streets to identify improvements that can be made to buildings, parking and other infrastructure. The City has updated their mission and vision and will continue to seek improvement in order to truly be a “Business Friendly City.” Governor Herbert signed the certificate and offered Mayor Ryan a signing pen as a souvenir. Mayor Ryan in turn presented Governor Herbert with a key to Roosevelt City.
