Give Em’ Health: Immunizations for Upcoming School Year

The upcoming school year may seem like a lifetime away but TriCounty Health is urging parents to stay ahead of the crowd and get child immunizations up to date sooner rather than later. The closer school gets there is a rush to get things done, shares TriCounty Health Nursing Director Nicole Smith. Appointments can be made at either TriCounty Health location from 8 to 5 Monday through Friday. Statistically, the Basin is doing a great job of getting kids immunized. By kindergarten, 90 percent or more of children are up to date on their immunizations. Immunizations should be “on the same priority line as car seats and infant safety gates,” shares Smith. “They really do protect your kids and other kids. Polio used to be one of the most feared diseases in the U.S. and now there are no cases.” TriCounty Health takes most insurances and the state has a program for kids that are not covered. Schedule an appointment in Roosevelt by calling 435-722-6300 or in Vernal at 435-247-1177.
