Further Details on Wednesday’s Semi Fire on Highway 40

Utah Highway Patrol has now reported that the semi tanker that caught fire on Highway 40
on Wednesday afternoon
was hauling production water, not condensate as previously believed. It was also determined that the accident was caused by equipment failure. The semi tanker was pulling a pup and traveling eastbound at Mile Marker 121 near the light at Fort Duchesne a little after
3:30pm
when an axle came off of the pop and the semi truck and pup overturned on the highway. The entire semi truck and trailers were fully engulfed in fire and burned up. All lanes on Highway 40 closed down because of the fire and the slick road conditions caused by the spilled contents of the trailer. All traffic was diverted from the highway as crews were on sight for cleanup. No one was reported as injured in the accident. Neither the driver nor the company’s name has been released.
