Today is the final day that business donations can be made for the Roger Brooks Community Assessment through the Utah Office of Tourism. Vernal City, Naples City, Uintah County Economic Development, Travel and Tourism, and the Vernal Chamber are combining funds in hopes of bringing in the company that provides in depth community assessments. The total cost of the assessment is $25,000 dollars, half of which is covered by the Utah Office of Tourism. The remaining $12,500 dollars will be a pool of funding from local sources. Uintah County is providing $6,250 dollars while Vernal, Naples, and the Vernal Chamber will each pay $1,500 dollars which leaves a balance of $1,500 dollars that local businesses and partners are being asked to contribute to. The assessment offers an objective viewpoint of a first-time visitor. Once the team arrives they work as secret shoppers and tourists assessing the community for attractability to newcomers, investors and tourists. The week long visit ultimately produces a lengthy report scoring 60 items that are considered critical to the economic success of any community. Those interested in contributing can contact the Vernal Chamber or Uintah County Travel and Tourism.
