The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources wants to be sure ice fisherman are up to speed on ice safety before hitting Basin waters. Free clinics are being held this month and are open to anyone that has an interest in ice fishing, shares Regional Conservation Outreach Manager Tonya Kieffer. “[Ice fishing] is a really great opportunity to get outdoors during the cold winter months and experience fishing on an entirely new level,” says Kieffer. “I remember how leery I was about the ice when I, myself, first started ice fishing, and I can say now that some of my best days fishing have been on the ice, in the dead of winter.” The next free clinic is being held
on Wednesday, December 21
st
at the Sportsman’s Warehouse in Vernal. DWR staff will be available and a raffle will be held to get ice fishing gear in the hands of some lucky winners.
