Forest Service Christmas Tree Permits

November is officially here and a tradition among many Basin families includes a trip to the mountain for a special kind of hunt: the hunt for the perfect Christmas tree. The Forest Service announced Tuesday that permits will go on sale November 15th at the Forest Service offices and local vendors. Permits will be available at the Flaming Gorge Ranger District office in Manila, the Forest Supervisor’s office in Vernal, and the Duchesne Ranger District office in Duchesne. A special program this year will make it even more affordable to make memories hunting for a tree this year. The ‘Every Kid in a Park’ program is giving out vouchers for a free tree to all 4th grade students in the state. The voucher can be printed at www.everykidinapark.gov. Bring the pass to a Forest Service office in exchange for a permit.
