FEMA to Use Mobile Device Alert System for National Test

Uintah County Emergency Management is spreading the word of a scheduled phone alert Basin residents will receive along with people around the country. In cooperation with the FCC, FEMA is conducting a national test of the Wireless Emergency Alert System. The alert will begin popping up on phones
on October 3rd at 12:18pm
. The message will test use of the National Periodic Test and should be titled “Presidential Alert.” The message is just a test and will only be found on the Emergency Alert System. Radio and other dissemination paths will not be used.
