Excellent Deer Archery Expected; New Website Announced

Plenty of bucks are waiting for the lucky hunters with permits for Utah’s general archery buck deer hunt. As the first major hunt of the fall, starting on August 20th, the Division of Wildlife Resources has launched a new website to help hunters prepare for this and future hunts. The Utah Hunt Planner website includes notes from the biologists managing the unit you’ll be hunting in and even provides the number of bucks compared to does on each unit. “We want you to have a successful, enjoyable time,” shares Big Game Coordinator Justin Shannon. “The experience you have is important to us. We’re hoping the information on the site will help you plan your most successful hunt yet.” The number of deer in Utah is the highest it’s been since the 1980s with a population of more than 384,000 mule deer. The number of bucks in the herds is also impressive with an average of 23 bucks per 100 does. Access the new planning website at www.DWRapps.utah.gov.
