Duchesne County Fair Items at Commission Meeting

With the 2016 Duchesne County Fair a success last summer, officials are considering plans for future years. During last week’s Duchesne County Commission meeting, several fair items were considered. First, Commissioners considered two bids that had been opened earlier in September for the rodeo contractor for the 2017, 2018, and 2019 fairs. Duchesne County has contracted with Broken Heart Rodeo for the last 15 years and discussion during last week’s meeting compared Broken Heart Rodeo with the other bid from O’Driscoll. It was noted that Broken Heart is part of an association that generally has a larger following compared to an open rodeo like O’Driscoll. Chairman Ron Winterton suggested that language be added to advertise again for a one night and/or a two night rodeo to see what bids come back. No decision was made. Later during the meeting, the Commission approved the appointment of Chelise Stewart as the new Duchesne County Fair Board Chairman for the next 4 years.
