Don’t Get Scammed During Tax Season

by | Feb 17, 2017 | News | 0 comments

It’s tax season and beware! Scammers turn up the heat this time of year. Scammers are making calls claiming to be IRS agents. If you receive one of these calls, do not give any personal information over the phone, including any banking information. “Regardless of the threats of arrest or them saying law enforcement will come to your house and arrest you, those claims are false. The IRS will never ask for debit or credit card information over the phone.” Uintah County Sheriff’s Office further warns that not all scammers pose as IRS agents so be careful of any type of caller that demands personal information or payment. If anyone has questions or concerns about phone calls they receive, contact your local law enforcement agency. For more information on possible IRS tax scams, visit
