Dockins’ Superintendent Contract Update

The decision of contract renewal for Uintah School District’s Superintendent will be made in 2017 under a new board. Board President Mark Caldwell issued an email
Wednesday morning
stating that the item had been removed from the Board meeting agenda scheduled for Wednesday. Dockins’ employment contract expires
June 30th, 2017
and according to the contract, negotiations for a subsequent contract were required to be done by the end of this December. Dockins agreed to release the Uintah School District from that contractual agreement and a new board will consider his contract renewal when they are seated next year. The emailed statement was signed by both Mark Caldwell and Mark Dockins. During Wednesday’s meeting, the board was split on the agenda item to approve funds to pay for an investigation and legal opinion regarding conduct of Superintendent Dockins. Board President Mark Caldwell said that an investigation was completed and no board action is being taken as a result. Board member Allen Huber was outspoken about how the investigation came about, explaining that not all board members were informed. He also emphasized that procedures were not followed, considering the cost of the investigation is around $7,000 dollars. The motion to approve the funds passed with Resha Bartlett, Sharon Bills and Mark Caldwell for, and Greg Gilroy and Allen Huber against.
