County Unemployment Ticks Down

Updated unemployment rates by county have been announced with a slight downward shift for Basin counties. Daggett County ticked down from 4.1 to 4 percent unemployment. Duchesne County fell slightly from 6.2 to 6 percent unemployment while Uintah County lowered incrementally from 6.7 to 6.6 percent unemployment. Compared to a year ago, Daggett County’s unemployment dropped by 1.2 percent, Duchesne County dropped by 3.6 percent, and Uintah County dropped by 3.2 percent. In the last year the national rate fell from 5 to 4.4 percent unemployment while the state of Utah fell the least from 3.5 to 3.1 percent unemployment. Utah’s labor market continues to be an example for the nation with 8 out of 10 private sector industry groups posting net job increases. Only the Information and  Natural Resources & Mining industries shed positions. The greatest employment increase took place in the Trade, Transportation and Utilities industry.
