Every year cemeteries throughout the Basin are visited on and around Memorial Day and local officials are requesting help in preparing the cemeteries for visitors. Last month, local officials began discussions on cemetery preparations for Memorial weekend. After visiting all 11 of Uintah County’s cemeteries, Uintah County Commissioner Duane Shepherd compiled a list of cleanup projects needed and the Commission selected this week as Cemetery Cleanup Week throughout the county. The Shepherd family set a great example Monday night making progress at the Hayden Cemetery. “Please take an hour or so and go to a cemetery near you and just do a little clean up in preparation for Memorial Day,” shares Shepherd. All those visiting local cemeteries for the upcoming holiday are invited to do their part to respect the facilities and keep them clean.
