The Uintah County Commission discussed and approved an amendment to the agreement for Uintah Fire services provided at the Vernal Regional Airport. With the transfer of airport management to the Uintah Transportation Special Service District, the agreement is being amended to show that the transportation district will cover the cost of fire services provided at the airport. Uintah County was the last to sign the interlocal agreement. Vernal City Council discussed and approved signature during the Council meeting last week. During Monday’s Commission meeting, county attorney Jonathan Stearmer expressed his concern that the wording may result in a gap of services and his desire to ensure that the agreement complies with FAA standards. The Commission approved a motion to approve the interlocal agreement “pending legal review.”
