Attending the annual Jones Hole Hatchery Fishing Day is a tradition for many Basin families but the fun is being shifted to another location for this year’s free fishing celebration on June 10th. According to the Division of Wildlife Resources, the event has been moved to Matt Warner Reservoir due to increasing threats from invasive New Zealand mud snails at the Jones Hole Fish Hatchery. Another event taking place that day is the annual kid’s fishing derby on East Greens Lake presented by Red Canyon Lodge.  “We will have some DWR, Forest Service, and USFWS staff at each of the events,” explains DWR outreach manager Tonya Kieffer, “as well as some equipment to lend out to the public to try fishing out for the first time or for a few hours!” The free fishing day event scheduled for June 10th from 9am to 2pm at the Matt Warner Reservoir is part of the statewide Free Fishing Day.
