Bizarre Shooting Self-Inflicted

Officials are saying that a man’s version of being shot in the torso after offering help to a stranded motorist about 5 miles north of Rifle is not true. The man called 911 as he supposedly drove away and was hospitalized after being flown to a hospital in Grand Junction. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that his account was not true and that the 31yearold man had actually inflicted the gunshot wound on himself. Little other information has been offered as the investigation is still underway.
