Suppression efforts continue on the Bench Fire in Dinosaur National Monument. There has been no significant growth since Sunday and as of Thursday, the fire remained at about 570 acres. According to Monument Chief of Visitor Services Dan Johnson, the interagency fire crews began demobilizing on Wednesday and the remaining interagency fire resources will monitor the fire through Friday. Containment on Wednesday was at approximately 85%. Local fire agencies will continue to work the fire for several more weeks. Federal agencies, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Jensen Fire Department, Montrose Fire Department, the Northwest Fire Protection District from Colorado and Poudre Valley Fire Department all assisted on the Bench Fire. The closure on Yampa Bench Road due to the fire has been lifted.
