Auditions Approach for Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra

The Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra is welcoming auditioners as their third season will start this fall. The organization has gained attention since its inception as a fantastic opportunity for young musicians. “We are growing every year,” shares Executive Director Brad Vanfleet. “People around the State are beginning to know about us.” The group performed two local concerts in Season 2 and had the opportunity to perform at Abravanel Hall in March. A small group from the orchestra was also able to travel to Seattle in June for a performance tour, gaining incredible experience for musicians so young. Some families assume their kids are too young or lacking in experience to audition but the group has a wide age range. “We made the decision last year to accept students of all ages,” explains Vanfleet. “The only requirement now is to pass the audition. I’m glad we did this, there are some very talented young players.” Last year, a 9-year-old violinist auditioned and became part of the orchestra. Auditions are being held July 30th through August 11th. Call 801-979-2267 to schedule an audition time. For more information, visit
