9-year-old Hit by Vehicle; Flown by Medical Helicopter to Wasatch Front Hospital

Tragedy struck over the weekend in Vernal when a 9-year-old boy was hit by a vehicle. According to Vernal City Assistant Police Chief Keith Campbell, Vernal PD and emergency personnel responded to a call of a traumatic injury at the Ashley Valley Apartments on

at approximately
2:00pm on Sunday afternoon
. “Investigation revealed that a 9-year-old boy was riding a long board on his knees as an adult male driver backed his vehicle out of a parking space, striking the child,” shares Campbell. “The child was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to the Ashley Regional Medical Center Emergency Room.” He was then flown by Classic Air to the Wasatch Front for further medical treatment. There has been no report on the child’s condition. No citations were issued, reports Campbell, and the investigation’s conclusion is that this was a tragic accident.
