Vernal Youth Baseball Champs

Local boys baseball all stars teams are still riding the high of victory after succeeding at the championship tournament last week held in Beaver. Vernal’s 9 and under team battled their way to the 9U championship game after working their way up through the loser’s bracket having lost one game early on. They played undefeated South Seveir and won the first game and then lost the second game leaving them with a respectable 2nd place. Vernal and Roosevelt’s 11 and under team came head to head in the 11U championship. The rival teams played on Tuesday with Vernal winning a close game. Roosevelt worked their way up through the loser’s bracket to face off with Vernal in the championship, needing to beat the Vernal team two times to claim the championship. Vernal won in the first game claiming the 11U championship title and awarding Roosevelt with second place. “All the kids worked hard and did really good,” says Vernal coach Joel Brown. Vernal’s 11U team qualified to play in the upcoming regional competition in California but due to time constraints are not planning to compete.
