Altamont Longhorn Days

Altamont Longhorn Days are in full swing with a list of activities about a mile long. Thursday’sactivities include the annual co-ed volleyball tournament that attracts a great response from local enthusiasts of the sport as well as the FFA Scholarship Jackpot tonight at the Altamont Rodeo Grounds. Friday starts the main events for Altamont’s annual celebration with the children’s bike race, co-ed softball tournament and rodeo. Saturday has something for everyone with the Park-to-Park race, 5K fun run, pancake breakfast, car show in the afternoon, children’s theater performance at Altamont High School, flag raising and parade at 5pm, followed by the annual dinner, auction, movie at dark, fireworks and late night dance on the high school football field. One thing is perfectly clear: if anyone in the Altamont area is bored this weekend, it’s their own fault!

Kristin never planned to work in news radio but has thoroughly enjoyed being part of the news team at KVEL. Her love of literature and writing developed in high school which led her to study English Literature and Technical Writing at BYU. She received her BA in English from BYU in 2005 and studied at UVU in Orem for 2 semesters to become a Certified Technical Writer in 2006. Two months after completion she began her dream job of being a stay-at-home mom.  As mother of 2 energetic kids, she began writing from home for the KVEL news team in 2011 and considers it the perfect fit as a full time mom and part time writer.
