Bishop's Bill to Save Utah Taxpayers

A bill with the potential to save Utah taxpayers money moved through House Committee on Wednesday with a favorable recommendation. HR 5468 is Congressman Rob Bishop’s bill to allow the acceleration of capital repayments of a Utah water district to the federal government. “This bill is simply common sense,” shares Bishop. “By allowing the District to pay the full balance of its debts, the consumer will no longer bear the burden of covering the interest, and the federal government can invest the funds into areas where taxpayer money would otherwise be spent.” The bill has now been sent to the full House Floor for consideration.
