Airport Agreement Amended

Vernal City Council approved an amendment to the engineering agreement with GDA on the airport runway project. Vernal Regional Airport Manager Kelly Harvey addressed the council duringWednesday’s meeting, explaining that the amendment has to do with a 404 permit required by the Environmental Protection Agency dealing with wetlands and environmental issues. As runway construction continues, required wetlands acreage is affected and as a result wetlands are being expanded upon in the Jensen area to cover about 7 acres. According to Harvey, the cost of approximately $56 thousand dollars is covered by an FAA grant. The council approved the amendment in order to include the wetland plans in the engineering agreement with GDA.
