2 Teens Injured in ATV Accident

Two teens were seriously injured in an ATV accident on Saturday afternoon in Uintah County. According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, emergency response was called to Massey Meadow, northeast of Vernal, shortly after 3:00pm on Saturday. “The ATV was being driven by a 13-year-old female with a 15-year-old female passenger when the accident occurred,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “When the ATV came around a corner on the trail, the driver lost control of the ATV and it began to slide sideways. As the driver attempted to regain control, she over-corrected, causing the ATV to go back across the trail where it collided with an affixed metal pipe on the side of the trail.” Both were seriously injured in the accident. The 13-year-old driver was taken from the scene by medical helicopter to a Salt Lake City hospital while the 15-year-old passenger was taken by ambulance to Ashley Regional Medical Center. Both were wearing helmets at the time of the accident and the investigation is ongoing.
