K-9 Units Trained in Craig

Last week, the city of Craig hosted training for K-9 units that drew law enforcement agencies from across the region. According to the report from the Craig Press, the training was provided by the High Desert K9 Association which is a nonprofit organization focused on offering training to smaller agencies in more remote areas that may have less access to training. The training used various spaces at the Colorado Northwestern Community College campus and Craig Middle School to help the dogs be prepared for a variety of different environments. It is very important to keep K-9 teams updated on training to maintain standards of practices, as well as for legal reasons. In order for any drugs discovered in a dog’s search to hold up in court, that dog’s certificate needs to be up to date.
