Ashley National Forest Seeking Public Input On Draft Management Plan

Ashley National Forest is asking the public to submit input on the draft management plan for the Ashley Karst National Recreation and Geologic Area. “The plan will assist us by incorporating the elements outlined by Congress in designating the national recreation and geologic area into a single management document,” shares Tom Parrack, district ranger for the Vernal Ranger District. The draft management plan does not include new management direction outside of the Ashley National Forest Plan or the Ashley Karst National Recreation and Geologic Area designating legislation.  Rather, it is a consolidated document that outlines the direction and guidance previously determined. “The Ashley Karst legislation is quite specific,” Parrack continues.  “This has allowed the development of the plan as a strategic document without requiring additional management specifications.”
