Single Semi Accident Closes Highway 40 West Of Vernal

Highway 40 was closed for nearly 5 hours on Monday after an accident west of Vernal. The accident took place near milepost 138 on Highway 40 on May 16th at approximately 6:55 pm. According to Utah Highway Patrol, a westbound Semi pulling a single trailer ran off the road to the right. “The single occupant driver overcorrected back to the lane of travel. The semi rolled over on the passenger side, skidding approximately 300 feet, blocking all lanes of travel near milepost 138.” Thankfully, no other vehicles were affected or involved. The cleanup effort required the closing of Highway 40 for several hours with traffic being detoured. The driver of the Semi was reported to be in stable condition.
