Vernal PD Issues Scam Warning After Locals Lose Substantial Sums Of Money

Vernal City Police Department has been made aware of a recent increase in fraud and scam related phone calls and emails circulating in the area. “We again want to warn the public about these scams that have unfortunately cost several of our community members substantial sums of money,” shares the announcement. “No legitimate business will ever contact you via these methods asking for personal identifying information especially social security numbers and bank information. Please keep in mind that many of the people who fall victim to these types of scams are elderly or have a limited knowledge of how today's technology is used for banking and financial needs. So please let your loved ones know or anybody else who may fall victim these scams, to be cognizant and leery of anybody asking for personal information.”  The scams are getting more intricate and anybody could be fooled. If you need to report fraudulent activity please call our non-emergency dispatch number at 435-789-4222.
