Colorado Parks and Wildlife have confirmed the second wolf kill in northwestern Colorado in the last month. It was confirmed that a border collie dog was killed on Sunday and a second dog was injured both on a ranch in north western Colorado. Wildlife officers conducted an investigation and concluded that the carcass was consistent with a wolf kill and there were wolf tracks at the scene. This is the second wolf kill reported in less than a month in the area after a 500 pound purebred heifer was killed. That incident was the first confirmed wolf kill of livestock in over 70 years in the state of Colorado. Colorado Parks and Wildlife confirmed the existence of wolves in northern Colorado in early 2021.
