Give’m Health: Local Law Enforcement Talks Safe Celebrating And Cost Of DUI
By Kristin Forbis, Dec 7, 2021
Uintah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dustin Cheshire and Vernal PD Detective Mike Tribe visited the Evans Family Media studios as part of the Give’m Health feature to talk safe celebrating and the cost of driving after drinking. Their message was simple. One drink is too many if you are going to drive and always have a designated driver or utilize one of the many rideshare options now available. For $10 or less you can get home safe and keep the entire community safe while you’re at it. If you choose not to do that then consider that when it comes to a DUI, impound fees to the State of Utah alone is $400. Add towing agency fees, court costs, loss of income, and even potential job loss and that taxi ride or rideshare cost becomes incredibly affordable. It was also shared that something incredibly common is someone pulled over and arrested for DUI that sincerely thought they were okay to drive because they felt fine. Even one drink is not worth it to put yourself in jeopardy and the public in danger. Don’t drink at all if you’ll be behind the wheel and just for good measure, be sure to never text and drive as well. Distracted driving in every form can be deadly.
