Christmas Spirit Abounds At Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus Concerts

After a year off, the talented folk of the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus arrived in full force to deliver Christmas spirit on Saturday during two concerts. The organization’s annual Christmas concerts are held the first Saturday in December and comprise each year of traditional and non-traditional Christmas music performed by a full orchestra, large choir, and children’s choir. Dancers from Studio R add to the experience during select songs where they perform in the aisles. This year’s concerts were conducted by Dr. Cory Evans, the Director of Choral Activities and Choral Music Education at Utah State University. The children’s choir members unleashed all their charm on the audience with “Somewhere In My Memory” from Home Alone and their rendition of “Calypso Lullaby” to great applause. The orchestra’s rendition of “Sleighride” thrilled as always and Santa even joined the dancers and surprised the crowd during Home Alone’s “Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas” which was met with extra enthusiasm by the crowd. The lobby had a setup for all to visit Santa and concert goers were also able to enjoy a hot chocolate bar outside after the show.
